I think you should start bothering about this visa thing …from march itself…. You need to surf online, find out information and keep yourself up to date….

Some Imp points :

-- To book a visa appointment(interview)date…. You mainly need these 2 things….
1) HDFC Barcode No.
2) “SEVIS No. on your i20” (you can even email to the univ to get this thing…u’ll be able to book a visa date even if you)

--You need not wait for all your i20’s to arrive for your visa date….. u just need one….using it, book the date, and afterwards when your desired univ’s i20 arrives, you can change to this univ. You can do this changing’s any No of times … but only before 3 working days prior to your Appointment date.

-- on the day of your visa interview…. U have to show the visa officer, the funds/Liquid Assets u’ll require for your TOTAL course (2 yrs, Tuition + Living Expenses). There are many scams pertaining to visa regarding fake documents….don’t even attempt to such Illegal means…..be wary if you are dealing with a consultant (though they help you out) ….i know many students who have been cheated by their consultants…esp. in this VISA thing….(Fake bank statements etc)

-- its ideal to book a visa date in 3rd/4th week of june…but see to it that you atleast get your provisional by that time. Generally our 8th sem marksheets come a bit late than provisional… Its always good to have all the marksheets with us… but if you don’t have, just take your provisional to your visa interview….. also try to get a letter from our COE section that “this candidate has passed, but is not issued a marksheet as on this date”

-- I contacted a visa consultant at my place in Andhra Pradesh and he gave me this list of required documents for the Financial Side of your VISA…
