U gotta include all the required materials in a good envelope(large size, cloth covered OR laminated) and send it to the address they indicate on their website…..remember to buy a good envelope and make it strong by using some cello tape at corners etc…..remember that this envelope should travel a long way……
Some univs require you to send 2 application packets for the same univ (one for Grad School & one for your applied dept)…… failing to do so will delay your application review process by 2-3 weeks…… if you have somebody in US, then send all the packets of each univ u are applying, and ask them to post them from there….
SPEED POST is good…. They charge you 500 Rs per each packet u gotta send…. Keep the receipt carefully. Generally, packets sent through speed post will reach their destination within 6-10 days... U can even track your packet online at www.indiapost.gov.in (go to “international speed post” and select the country “USA”) and enter the receipt number in the field provided…..
(NIT-Bhopal students, plz go to new market Post office for sending these packets….. u can do it in our campus PO itself…. but, the packets u give here will be manually taken to the new market PO by a clerk (on cycle J)….hence liable to any undesired consequences)
DHL COURIER is also good….. but they charge you 1200 Rs (this is including the 50% concession they give for students applying to foreign univs….otherwise 2400!!! )…. But the delivery is really good….. like 3 days….so if your deadline is round the corner, then u have to send it by DHL (In Bhopal….its beside ICH, new market)
Try your level best to send off all your packets by the end of October…deadlines of most of the univs would be in DEC. applying early really matters….u have more probability of an ADMIT / AID if you apply early….. its like giving 10 bananas to a group of beggars J (sorry if my analogy was crude)…..initially u set out giving one banana per beggar, then you notice that their No. has increased…..now you begin to give a single banana to 3 beggars….its like this in most of the univs… except for a very few where they wait till the deadlines are completed and then review process/admitting students begins…. But in most of the univs, this process starts off way earlier than the deadline….
This happened with me too….. I applied early, and have received admit’s really soon…. Compared to others.
If its not possible for you to send so early, atleast make sure that your packet reaches there a few days before the deadline….. but they’ll also give full consideration to the applications they receive on the day of deadline……
Generally, there would be 2 deadlines for a univ.
--Financial Deadline (for your application to be considered for aid) (this will be early)
--General deadline (If the univs have funds still left, they’ll see if they could give any aid, otherwise, they just consider you for ‘admission only’)
