Some univs ask for financial docs after they admit you and some univs require u to send these docs at the time of your application itself......anyway.... if u send them at the time of application itself, u will save the postal charges of sending it afterwards.....(if they admit you..... J)
Univs require this to confirm that u have sufficient funds to cover your course expenses during your study in that univ. So u need a sponsor (parent/relative/friend) for you to fund your education... unless u have your own bank balance.
U (your sponsor) need to show the amount (Bank Balance) for your first year expenses (tuition fee + living)....and certify that he'll continue to support you for the subsequent years of your education
Affidavit of Support : u need to take this on a 10 Rs stamp paper and get it notarized.
Typical format of Affidavit of Support....
To whom I may concern
I _____________(sponsor), residing at ________(address of sponsor) pledge to support _________(your name) my ________(relation…friend/son/brother etc) in the amount of ________US Dollars for the first year and an amount equal to or greater than the above for each subsequent year of his program . I certify that these funds are readily accessible for use in the United States.
Date, place, Ph No of sponsor
Signature of sponsor notarized.
Bank Statement of sponsor : this is a letter given by the bank on their 'letter head'...stating that the sponsor of you is having balence of Rs. ****** (Approx $ ** USD) in his account and he's free to take that money anytime and are ready for use in USA....like this..... .... generally what ppl do is to transfer this huge amount required to their account from their friends.... take the bank statement ..... and then transfer it back to where it came from....and this legal too.....as far as this application process is concerned..... and plz plz plz dont do this for your visa...... for your visa, u need to take the transaction statement too.... i.e if the visa officer finds that a huge amount has been deposited in our account......he will mostly reject you, unless u come up with a very very strong reason......
Typical format for Bank Statement:
[On the official Bank letterhead]
To whomsoever it may concern
This is to certify that _______________ (owner of account), sponsor of _____________ (student's name), residing at _____________________ ,has a Saving Bank A/c no. _______ with our bank. The current balance is Rs. _______ or equivalent US $ _________.
This amount is free from any encumbrance and is at the account holder's disposal to meet the expenses of his (her)_________ (relationship e.g.: son's, sister's, friend's etc. ) higher studies.
